In the event of an accident/mishap

Hazardous goods must be handled with extra caution to avoid accidents and spillages. Before you as a truck operator move the goods, you must find out what the contents are and what you have to do if a mishap or accident occurs.
In the event of an accident:
- Call 112 and/or internal emergency number.
- Warn others in the vicinity.
- Help any casualties.
- Send casualties to a doctor, if possible with information about what type of goods has been involved in the accident.
- Cordon off the area.
In the event of a spillage:
- Check that transport card to see the risks associated with the spillage.
- Check what protective equipment is needed.
- Check how you can remove the spillage (suction or flushing away).
